FEEDBACK CORNER
Feedback Corner is currently open.
COUNTERCLOCK relies on the contributions of submitting artists in order to keep every issue free and maintain a fee-free submission option for all. We are so grateful for your support in this effort. Please know that your contribution goes a long way; we are an independently-run, not-for-profit literary arts organization that aims to one day offer monetary payments to our contributors. Your money may also be used to offer scholarships to our CC Arts Fellows, emerging artists in creative writing, visual art, and music. You may learn more about the fellowship here.
We currently offer two Feedback Corner options: a four-week package for $28 and a two-week package for $35.
In Feedback Corner, CC team members provide feedback to writers, giving guidance from a big-picture perspective as well as thorough, line-by-line suggestions. Every member of the editorial team has experience workshopping in a professional academic environment or editing a literary publication outside of CC; many team members have been recognized nationally or internationally for their writing by organizations such as the Poetry Society of the United Kingdom, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the Adroit Prizes, the 2018 Massachusetts Book Awards, and more. Please note that submitting to CC’s Feedback Corner does not guarantee acceptance into the journal. You may choose whether or not you would like your submission to be evaluated for the journal by indicating so in your payment process (see instructions below).
You may submit up to two Feedback Corner pieces at a time. Please wait until we have returned our feedback on those pieces to submit to Feedback Corner again.
1 Four-week package - $28
This package includes the following:
• Receive feedback on 1 submission (see what qualifies as a single submission here) from 1 member of our editorial team (Rachel Lu, Maria Gray, or Eliza Browning) and 1 member of our reading team (Patrick Tong, Zineb Laadioui, Mayu Alten, Leah Chase, Woody Woodger, Jane Rosenberg LaForge, Rachel Sucher, Mahika Gupta, or Douglas Cole).
• Feedback includes general feedback — comments on plot, characterization, development, story organization, and big-picture ideas, as well as line-by-line feedback — comments on tone, diction, imagery, and phrasing throughout the piece. We apply multiple read-throughs to your work in order to immerse ourselves in your ideas, and we parse out your text closely in order to help you better evolve your delivery.
•Feedback will be returned to the writer within four weeks of the submission date.
2 Two-week package - $35
This package includes the following:

How to Submit to Feedback Corner
1 Email your submission according to each genre's guidelines here. Please include "Feedback Corner" in the subject line of your email.
2 Visit our Paypal here and type in the amount of money in USD in the space provided. Click 'Next.'
3 In the following screen, please select the option ‘sending to a friend’ rather than ‘paying for goods or a service’ in the blue bar, as shown below. In the space where Paypal allows you to add a note, please write your name and the title/genre of the submission which you're paying for. If you do not see this screen, please try scrolling up. Your work will not be automatically considered for inclusion in COUNTERCLOCK Journal. If you would like to be considered for publication, you must submit separately through our normal submission guidelines.
4 Scroll to the bottom of the page and click ‘send payments now.'
